Woodford, Jacquelin Zo

Jacquelin Zo Woodford, 23-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Woodford, 1310 North Fifth street, was pronounced dead on arrival at Pawating Hospital at 6:50 p.m Thursday.  Berrien County Coroner Dr. Franklyn G. Rice of Niles ruled the death due to a congenital heart.  An autopsy has been ordered.

The child was born Oct. 9, 1953[sic] in Niles.  Besides her parents she leaves five sisters and a brother, Myrtle, Mary Leila, Jule, Susanne and Melvin, all at home, and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Harry Woodford of Dowagiac, and Mrs. Ada Finley of Niles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Full Gospel Assembly Church with Elder W.J. Coad officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Kiger Funeral Home.

Fletcher, Jorjen

Jorjen Fletcher, two-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fletcher, 1827 Pucker, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday in Gary, Ind. While enroute from Pawating Hospital to Loyola University Hospital in Chicago. She was admitted to Pawating on Jan. 3.

The child was born Oct. 23, 1954, in Niles. Surviving besides her parents are: a sister, Peggy, at home, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Fletcher, of Niles, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hellwig, of Buchanan.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funral[sic] Home here until noon Friday when the body will be taken to the Methodist Church for services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Cass, Alfred Irven

Alford[sic] Irven Cass, 2924 ½ Lawrence street, Fort Wayne, Ind., died at 5:10 a.m. today at Pawating Hospital. He was born at 4 a.m. Sunday at the hospital.

Among survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Cass, of Fort Wayne, who were visiting relatives . . .[illegible] . .prematurely.

Committal services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Alfred Irven Cass was prematurely born Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Terrell Cass at Pawating Hospital and died Monday.  The name was listed previously as Alford Irven Cass. Committal services were held this morning at Silverbrook Cemetery.

NILES-- Dale Curtis, 57, 1569 Barron Lake Rd., died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at Pawating Hospital after illness of several years.

He was born Jan. 31, 1918 in Michigan City, Ind., and had lived his lifetime in the area.

He is survived by seven brothers, Chester, Floyd, Manley, Donald, Robert and Dean, all of Niles, and Edward of Marcellus; and three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Fairchild of Niles, Mrs. Clarence (Allene) Rowe of Pierson, Fla., and Mrs. John (Lucille) Whiteleather of Columbia City, Ind.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Silverbrook Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Asire of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Pifer Chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to any charity.

 

Darnell, Louise B.

NILES—Mrs. Louise b. Darnell, 65, 1324 W. River Rd., died at 1:25 a.m. Today at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an extended illness.

She was a retired beauty operator and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church,and the Illa-He-Till-A-Kum Club.

Her husband Lewis J. Darnell survives, along with a son, Ralph C. Ballard of Niles; a daughter, Miss Kathleen M. Ballard of Chicago; a brother Edward Hudak of Niles; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Kajzer and Mrs. Monica Matafin, both of South Bend; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be an[sic] noon Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Bernard I. Mullahy of St. Patrick's Church, South Bend, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.  Memorials may be given to the Niles Community Library.

Dillman, Deborah

Deborah Kay Dillman, rural route three, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Pawating Hospital. She was born at 11:30 a.m Thursday  at Pawating Hospital.

Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Dillman, Niles and grandparents.

Committal services were held at 3:30 p.m. today, with the Rev. J.W. Hill, pastor of the First Evangelical Church, officiating.  Burial was in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Dutkiewicz, Thomas Mills

NILES—Thomas Mills Dutkiewicz, age 9 weeks, of 208 Woodruff St., died at approximately 6 a.m. Friday at his home.

He was born July 22 at Berrien General Hospital in Berrien Center. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dutkiewicz, one sister, Amber, at home, and three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Dutkiewicz, and Mrs. Doris L. Mills, all of Niles.

A graveside committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Silverbrook Cemetery, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John D. Slowey officiating.
