The Friends of Silverbrook Cemetery is proud of our 18 years of service to the city of Niles operating as a non profit group supporting the historic cemetery. This past year our donations have funded a new signage map for the front entrance drive guiding visitors to destinations within the cemetery, a sign honoring Potter's Field burials from the late 1800's to the early 1900's, and our annual purchase of veteran flags and flag holders to help the city honor our over 2,300 interred Veterans. As ongoing projects our members are active in cleaning and stone restoration work and we fund our Cemetery website commonly used for research for genealogists and families seeking burial information, obituaries, and photos of gravestones.
We continue to value our collaboration with Mollie Kruck Watson and the Niles History Center Museum staff in organizing our yearly fall cemetery tour. This year we actually had decent weather and the event was attended by over 100 people! Mollie’s invaluable research identifies leaders and contributors to our city’s early history and is both informative and interesting.
Please know we value every donated dollar we receive and pledge to use it to enhance our beautiful 60 acre cemetery. The city of Niles appreciates your support, and so do we.
Many thanks,
Ginny Tyler
