Killed by the Cars

As the mail train from the east was coming down the grade last Saturday evening, it ran over, about forty rods east of the depot and instantly killed, a Mr. Burt Alberts.  Mr. Alberts lived about two miles east of this city, had been to town and was returning home.  Those who saw him ten minutes before he was killed state that he was somewhat intoxicated, but that he could converse and seemed to know perfectly well what he was about.  A man who saw him un over, states that he got off the track once, but that he stepped into a gutter filled with water, and attempted to Cross over the track to the other side, when he was struck by the locomotive.  Pieces of this body was strung along the track for forty rods.  In one place lay his heart, his liver in another and his face in another.  It was a horrid sight.
