George W. Summers, a farmer who resided two miles southwest of the city, died last Saturday, of pneumonia, aged 55 years. Mr. Summers was born in Steuben county, New York, in 1823, and came to Michigan in 1837. In 1853, he was married to Nancy Straub, and purchased the farm on which he had since lived. About 10 years ago he united with the Baptist church in this city, and his upright life bore evidence of the sincerity of his religious convictions. He was a hard-working man, and a good citizens, and enjoyed the esteem of a large circle of friends. He leaves a wife and nine children.
