Long Illness Is Fatal to Mrs. Clayton Algeo

Mrs. Orave Algeo, 52, of 1424 Hickory street, died late this morning. Mrs. Algeo was the wife of Clayton Algeo. She had been ill for about ten years of a heart ailment and complications.

Mr. Algeo survives, two daughters, Donna Mae, at home, and Mrs. Irene Savage, of Muskegon.

Mrs. Algeo had been a resident of Niles for the last 20 years.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.  The body was taken to the Troost and Turner funeral home and arrangements will be made after the arrival of Mrs. Savage from Muskegon this afternoon.

Niles News In Brief: ALGEO FUNERAL TODAY

The Rev. Grater, of the South Bend Brethren church, was to officiate at the funeral services this afternoon of Mrs. Clayton Algeo who died at her home Thursday.  Pallbearers will be D.J. Lagoni, Andrew Noel, elmer Jones, Hartman Bachman, Paul Smith and Carl Knickelhein. The services will be held in the Turner-Pifer funeral chapel and burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Niles News In Brief:  TWINS BURIED TODAY

Henry J. and V.J., Jr., twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Anderson, 110 Grant street, were buried in Silverbrook cemetery this morning at 11 o'clock, after a brief commital service read by Mrs. Ilah Wheeler. The twins were born Thursday in Pawating hospital. V.J., Jr., died Thursday morning and was taken tot he Turner-Pifer funeral home.  Henry J.'s death occurred early Friday.

The funeral of the late Jay Arnold was held this afternoon, Rev. Chas Ager officiating.  Interment took place at Silver Brook cemetery.

Mrs. Rebecca Ann Eden, who resided with J. Arnold of 409 North Front street, died Sunday of old age, being in her 90th year. She was born Nov. 9, 1816, and leaves no relatives. The funeral will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house, Rev. R.H. Bready, officiating.

FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR MRS. BALLARD

Rites for Niles Woman to Be Held at Ralph Ballard Apple Farm

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Ballard, who died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Forrest McCollum in Ferndale, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Ralph Ballard home on the Chicago road.

Mrs. Ballard who was planning to return to her home here at 122 South Third street, was stricken with paralysis about a week ago. She had spent the summer at her daughter's home.

Mrs. Ballard was born in Galva, Ill., Sept. 6, 1872. As a child of 10 years, she went with her parents to Colorado, where the family lived in several pioneer towns. Her maiden name was Margaret Corkhill.  She was married in 1890 at  Montrose, Colo., to Fred Ballard, who died about two years ago.

After her marriage, Mrs. Ballard moved to Berwyn, Ill , where most of her married life was spent. She came to Niles in 1932.

Three daughters survive: Mrs. McCollum, of Ferndale; Mrs. John Grosenberg and Mrs. Robert Barker, of Chicago. A son, Edward M. Ballard, died many years ago. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. H.E. Wilkinson, of  California.

The Rev. G.W. Simon, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate at the services Tuesday. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Niles News In Brief:  PRAYER SERVICE TODAY

Irving Boulton, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Boulton,  752 Hickory street, died Monday afternoon soon after his birth at Pawating hospital. Mrs. Boulton is the former Miss Gladys Williams.  Prayer services were held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, the Rev. A.R. Kuehn officiating.  Burial was in Silverbrook cemetery.
