The Remains of the Late Edward Cady Laid to Their Final Repose.

The funeral of the late Edward Cady occurred from the late residence on Front street this morning at which time the service was conducted by Rev. Lowrie, to the presence of a large number of the relatives and friends of the esteemed, deceased pioneer settler.  Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton, and Mrs. W.R. Bunbury, rendered the following vocal selections:  “It is Well With my soul.” “Lead Kindly Light,” and the most beautiful of all, “We'll Never Say Good-Bye in Heaven.”

The services concluded, the funeral cortege wended hits way slowly to Silver Brook cemetery where interment was made.

Lillian M. Campbell
May 10, 1875-Nov. 19, 1952

Mrs. Lillian M. Campbell, 80, former Niles resident, died Wednesday night at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., following a long invalidism.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, Presbyterian Church pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

The body will arrive in Niles Saturday night and friends may call Sunday at the funeral home.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. E.M. Bigelow, Fort Lauderdale; a granddaughter, Mrs. Melvin F. Rahn, Niles,; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Chicago on May 10, 1875. In 1897 she married John A. Campbell who died in 1938.  They moved to Niles in 1909.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church here and the local Order of Eastern Star chapter.

Willie Bryan Carraway

NILES -- Funeral services for Willie Bryan Carraway, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pifer Funeral Home.   He was found dead Tuesday morning beside his home at 609 N. Front St.

A retired Simplicity Pattern Co. worker, he had lived in Niles for 40 years.   He was born Oct. 22, 1897, at Reeves, Tenn.   On June 15, 1945, he married Ellen Trobridge, who survives.   He was a veteran of World War II.

The Rev. Robert Trenery of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate at the funeral services and burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.   Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. 

Julia Ann Chorba

TROOPERS CONFIRM CAUSE OF DEATH OF FOUR-YEAR-OLD-GIRL

Niles State Police today confirm that Julia Chorba, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Chorba, rural route six, was fatally injured Friday afternoon when she fell out of the car door as her mother was backing from their driveway.

According to an attending physician, the child apparently struck the car door as she fell and was not run over by the vehicle.  The accident occurred about 5:15 p.m., as Mrs. Chorba was backing out of the driveway.

The child died at 10:25 p.m. Friday in Pawating Hospital while undergoing surgery after she had been admitted with internal injuries.  Funeral services were held today in the First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Mary Anne Coleman

NILES -- Mrs. Mary A. Coleman, 91, of 328 1/2 Michigan St., died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Quick Convalescent Home, after an illness of several months.

Born May 18, 1878, in Ireland.   Mrs. Coleman had lived here since 1896, coming from Kalamazoo.   On Sept 21, 1895, in Kalamazoo, she married Salter D. Coleman.   He preceded her in death in 1938.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Paul of LaVerne, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. V. M. (Gladys) Meeker of Niles; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fretner of Ypsilanti and Mrs. Rose O'Neil of Battle Creek; six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John D. Slowey officiating.   Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday.

NILES - Commital services for James Lawrence Damouth, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Damouth, 1211 N. 13rh St., who died minutes after his birth Friday evening in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, were held at 2 .m. today in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Officiating was Gary Johnson of the Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Tolliver, Niles and Mr. and Mrs. Eulis Damouth, Pocahontas, Ark. and a sister, Janie Marie, at home.
