Miss Jean Helen "Jeanie" Litty, 68, of Lykins Lane, Niles, Michigan, died following a brief illness at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006, in Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.
She was born on August 6, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, to Joseph and Dorothy H. (Rose) Litty, and had lived most of her life in Coldwater, Michigan, and Niles.
Jeanie loved children and dogs. She brought joy to those around. Her family and friends loved to hear her laugh.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Litty, who died in 1949; her nephew, Eric Baich, who died in 1998; her stepfather, Arthur Wisniewski, who died in 2005; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Litty, who also died in 2005.
Surviving family includes her mother, Dorothy Wisniewski of Buchanan, Michigan; devoted twin sister, Joan (Fred) Hubele of Niles; sister, Nancy (Steffen) Baich of Buchanan; brother, James Litty of Crown Point, Indiana; six nieces and two nephews; 15 grand-nieces and nephews; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
The funeral service for Miss Jean Helen Litty will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Alan O. Carson of Lighthouse Baptist Church, South Bend, officiating. Committal services will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Jeanie may be made to the Shepherd's Home in Union Grove, Wisconsin -- a home for individuals with developmental impairments.
