NILES WOMAN KILLED; 4 HURT IN CAR CRASH

MRS. ROSCOE CLARK
IS INSTANTLY KILLED
LATE SUNDAY NIGHT

Husband Claims South Bend
Car Turned Without Warning;
Officers Investigate

Mrs. Roscoe Clark, 26, 1135 Maple street, was killed instantly and four others were injured in an automobile crash on US-31, near the state line late Sunday night.

The injured are:  Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Lineback, Frank Hans and Mrs. Mary Vaccal, all of South Bend.  Mr and Mrs. Lineback and Mrs. Vaccal are in St. Joseph hospital, South Bend, suffering only slight bruises.  Hans is in Epworth hospital, where he is being treated for fractures of both collar bones.

The accident occurred about 10:30 Sunday night. The Clark's were returning to Niles form South Bend. Their car was on the right-hand side of the road, with Mr. and Mrs. Clark occupying the front set, and their seven-year-old son, John, in the rumble seat, when the car bound for South Bend turned into the Kubiak place on M-31, without giving the proper signal, Mr. Clark says.  The Clark roadster struck the other car broadside, badly damaging both machines.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Rutherford Funeral home, the Rev. Robert E. Meader officiating.

Claud Huff, deputy sheriff, and Coroner Louis Kerlikowske are investigating the affair, but no charges have been made and the questions of an inquest has not been decided.

The Clarks formerly lived in Bertrand but moved to Niles a few years ago when Mr. Clark obtained employment with the French Paper company.
