Neil W. Merrick, 83, of 1236 South 11th Street, retired merchant policeman, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Berrien County Hospital, Berrien Cetner, following an extended illness.
Merrick was born Oct. 26, 1872 in Milford,Ind. and came to Niles 20 years ago from South Bend.
Surviving are: his wife, Margaret; three sons, Norman Merrick, of South Bend, Thornton Merrick, of Osceola, Ind. and Keith Merrick, of Cassopolis; two step-daughters, Mrs. Marie Wood, of LaPorte, Ind., and Mrs. Pearl Gunderson, of Neopit, Wis., and a step-son, Frank Barkley, of Big Bay, Mich.
Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Chester Wetzel, assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
