SOUTH BEND--Funeral services for Ernest M. Hayworth, 74, of 1249 Longfellow St., here, formerly of Niles, who died at 9:10 p.m., Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday EDT, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 Williams St. The Rev. Stanley Dodgson will officiate. Burial will be in the Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Born Jan. 17, 1894, in Marionville, Mo., Mr. Hayworth had resided in both the South Bend and Niles area since 1921 after moving from Kokomo, Ind.
A Navy veteran of World War I, he was owner and operator of the Wholesale Distributors Corp., here.
He married Vera Peery in 1917, who died in 1941; later marrying Irene Bertles in 1943, who died Jan. 7, of this year.
[. .Illegible. .] Rotary Club, he was a member of the South Bend Lodge, 294 F&AM and a member of the Scottish Rites of South Bend.
In addition to a son Eucile Hayworth, he is survived by a step-son, Robert Bertles, both of South Bend; and a brother, Clyde of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Mrs. Orville Williams of Seymour, Mo., and Mrs. Everett Parsons of Marionville, Mo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 8 to 10 p.m., EDT.
Upon family request, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, here of which he was a member.
