Levi H. Strickland, 69, of 2831 Adams Road, was dead on arrival at 5 p.m., Monday to Pawating Hospital, after he had suffered an illness of one year.
A fireman employed by the National Standard co., Mr. Strickland was born May 29, 1898, in Lake City, Ark. He moved to this area from there 30 years ago.
On March 25, 1937, he married Virginia Mae Curtner in Jonesboro, Ark.
In addition to the widow, he is survived by two sons, William of Peoria, Ill.; Frank of New London, Conn.; five daughters, Mrs. Perry Summers of South Bend; Mrs. Dean Westfall and Mrs. Frank Jendrezewski, both of Edwardsburg; Mrs. Howard Gogley Jr. of Niles; Miss Retha Strickland at home; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Caldwell of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Frank Flretcher of Spokane, Wash.; several step-sisters and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Lyle Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m., Wednesday.
