Harold C. Finley
Jan. 25, 1898-Jan. 23, 1960

Harold C. Finley, Sr., 61, 906 Ferry St., a lifetime resident of this city, died at 8:40 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital following a six months' illness.

Mr. Finley who had worked for 38 years as house service man for the Michigan Bell Telephone Co., office in Niles, was born Jan. 25, 1898, in Niles was was married on Jan. 29, 1923, in St. Joseph to Martha Roberts, who survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Roberson, Niles; a son, Harold Finley, Jr., Niles; four grandsons; and a sister, Mrs. Percy Gay, Niles.

He was a member of John W. Moore Lodge, F. & A. M. Full Masonic rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Kiger and Halbritter Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday.

HOLD CAMP RITES FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Camp, 35, of 1119 1/2 Marion street, who died Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Doctors hospital, Benton Harbor, will be conducted in the Price and Kiger funeral chapel Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Friends may call at the chapel until time of the services, which will be conducted by the Rev. F. Kenneth Hoffmaster.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

Mrs. Camp was born in Peru, Ind. Feb. 4, 1909.

Surviving are the husband, Fred Camp; the father, Shirley Thomas; a stepmother, Mrs. Effie Thomas; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Parnell, Niles; and two brothers, Floyd Thomas, Niles, and John Thomas, in the army.

CAMP SERVICES

The Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster officiated Friday at funeral services for Mrs. Edith Camp, 35, of 1119 ½ Marion street, in the Price and Kiger funeral chapel. Mrs. Camp did Wednesday in Benton Harbor. Burial was made in Silverbrook. Pallbearers were Ward Callighan, Herman Cochran, Charles, Nichols, Lloyd Thomas, Oscar Johnson and William Partridge.

Gabrella Camp, 74, Life Resident of Niles, Is Stricken

Mrs. Gabrella Camp, 74, lifelong resident of Niles, died Tuesday night at 10:30 in her home at 748 Maple street.   She had been ill several years.

Mrs. Camp was born in Niles, July 28, 1867. Her husband, John, died last year.  She is survived by a son, Fred Camp, and a sister, Miss Cora Evick, both of Niles.  She was a member of the Methodist church.

Friends may call at the Price and Kiger chapel where funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2.  Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

John Camp, Resident of Niles 43 Years, is Taken by Death

John Camp, 80, of 748 Maple street, died early this morning after seven months' illness.

He was born in Canada and came to Niles 43 years ago.  Surviving are his wife, Gabrella, a son, Fred, Niles and  a brother, Wellington, whose address is not known.

Mr. Camp was a laborer during his active years, retiring when ill health made it impossible for him to work. He was married in Niles 43 years ago to Miss Gabrella Evick.

Services will be Wednesday afternoon at 1 in the Price and Kiger chapel.  The Rev. Floyd Johnston, of the First Baptist church will officiate, and burial will be in Silverbrook.

INSANE MAN PASSES AWAY AT CITY JAIL

Charles Camp, Who Was Being Held Pending Arrival of Authorities From State Hospital, Succumbs to Apoplexy

Charles Camp, 64 years old, was found dead at the city jail about 11 o'clock this morning, having succumbed to an attack of apoplexy.

Mr. Camp had been an inmate of the state hospital at Kalamazoo up to the 21st instant, when it was thought that he had sufficiently recovered mentally to be permitted to return home. His daughter, Mrs. Fye of Vernon Heights took him to her home, and this morning he became violently insane, and Chief Francis was summoned.  The demented man was taken to the city jail to be held pending the arrival of attendants from the state hospital, and upon their arrival here, Chief Francis accompanied them to the jail, where it was found that Mr. Camp had expired.  The deceased has another daughter, Mrs. Chas. Weaver, residing north of town.

The body will be taken to the home of John  Weaver, 723 N. Front street, tomorrow. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

OBITUARY

Charles William Camp was born in Buchanan, Michigan, Dec. 11, 1857, and was married to Rosa Brundge in 1883.  To them were born eight children, one having died in infancy.  He leaves to mourn his loss the following children: Mrs. John Weaver and Mrs. Frank Fey of Niles; Mrs. Hettie Pierson and Mrs. Zina Morley, Porter Camp and Oliver Camp, of Omaha, Neb., and William Camp of Milwaukee, Wis., also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was of a kind and cheerful disposition. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. John Weaver.  Burial will be in Silver Brook cemetery.

Porter Isaac Camp
May 26, 1892-April 9, 1924

The body of Porter Camp, 31, American legion member, who died in Lee sanitarium in Dowagiac, was brought to Niles this afternoon and buried in Silver Brook cemetery.  He was given a military burial.
