Syles Wayne Hodge, a vibrant soul known for his contagious laughter and boundless curiosity, left this world unexpectedly of natural causes on January 7, 2025, at the young age of 11. Born on November 26, 2013, in South Bend, Indiana. He passed away in Niles, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

The beloved son of Nathan Hodge and Sarah Cramer, and Paula Tweedy and Jeff Kalar, Syles was the light of their lives. His grandparents, Melissa and Thomas Pierce, Paul Hodge Jr., Randi K. Ray, Andrew Eisele, Jeff and Teresa Cramer along with his great-grandmothers Sharon Hodge and Pamela Hawkins. He is preceded in death by his loving grandfathers Kenneth Ray, Paul Hodge Sr., and Denny Engdahl. His sisters Addyson and Gracelynn were blessed to have their bubby love and spoil them, even for a short time. His aunts; Carllie (Anthoney) Bice, Courtney (Americo) Martinez, and Lena Cramer, uncles; Joshua (Kelsey) Fedeli, Kelvin Tweedy (Stacey Raven), Thomas Pierce, and a host of other aunts and uncles will forever hold Syles in their hearts, remembering the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.

As a fifth grader at Brandywine Elementary, Syles was known for his friendly demeanor and eagerness to learn. His teachers and classmates will miss his funny quips and loving nature that made every school day brighter. Syles had an insatiable curiosity that extended beyond the classroom, as he was always ready to explore new horizons.

Syles was the quintessential tinkerer, with a passion for making things go faster. He loved to fish, finding peace and excitement in the tranquility of nature. His collection of RC cars and boats was a testament to his love for speed and mechanics. Syles had just begun to delve into the world of drones, a pursuit that promised to soar as high as his dreams. In the kitchen, he enjoyed learning new recipes, always eager to taste and share his culinary creations with his family.

Those who knew Syles will remember him for his funny, loving, and friendly personality. He had a way of making everyone around him smile, and his absence will be deeply felt by his friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In the words of Dr. Seuss, a quote that Syles lived by and which encapsulates his approach to life: "To the world, you may be one person; but to one person, you may be the world." Syles indeed was the world to those who loved him, and his impact will continue to ripple through the lives he touched.

Services to celebrate Syles will take place at Brown Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 6 p.m. with a time of visitation two hours prior. Syles will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery near his grandfather.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honor of Syles have been asked to consider make a donation to the family in care of Brown Funeral Home to help with the unexpected costs of his funeral and cemetery expenses.

Syles Wayne Hodge's journey was brief, but the depth of his impact was immense. As we say goodbye to this remarkable young soul, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same enthusiasm and love that he did every day. His memory will be a guiding light, encouraging us to explore, to create, and to cherish the moments we share with one another. Syles, you may have left us too soon, but the memories and love you've instilled in our hearts are eternal.
