Anderson, Clara

Clara Anderson

Mrs. Clara Anderson, 102 1/2 North Front street, died suddenly at 12:55 a.m. today at Pawating Hospital. She complained of pain in the midcpigastic region and went to the hospital but died just outside the emergency room door of the hospital, according to the hospital.

Surviving are two sons, Calvin Anderson, a corporal serving with the Army in Germany, and James McCullem, of Cairo, Ill., and one daughter, Arlene Anderson, at home.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, starting Thursday night. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, and will be announced later.

A complete list of survivors and funeral arrangements of Mrs. Clara Anderson, 102 1/2 North Front street, have been reported.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pifer Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.L. Wingate, pastor of Franklin AME Church, officiating, and burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, starting tonight.

Surviving Mrs. Anderson who died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, besides her husband, Edward Anderson, of Arlington, Tenn., are three children, Calvin Anderson, a corporal in the Army stationed in Germany, James McCullem, Cairo, Ill., and Miss Earlene Anderson, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia McClendon, of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Roxie Colbert, of Holcomb, Miss., and Mrs. Georgie Jones, of Cairo, Ill., and three brothers, William Edmond, of Holcomb, Miss., Nathaniel Edmond, of Cairo, Ill., and James Edmond, of Chicago.

Mrs. Anderson was born on May 25, 1910, in Granada, Miss., and came here from Cairo, Ill., four years ago.

SET COCHRAN RITES

Funeral services for Elmer B. Cochran, 63, rural route four, who died Monday at Pawating Hospital, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kiger Funeral Home with the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Cochran was born Nov. 14, 1889, in Niles. He was a farmer until he became ill about four months ago.

Surviving are his wife, Grace, and one brother, Charles, rural route four, Niles.

 

Cody, Charlotte C.

Mrs. Charlotte C. Cody died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ward Titus, at 724 Lakeway, Kalamazoo, at 8:45 p.m Wednesday. Her husband, Roy, died in March 1953.

Surviving besides Mrs. Titus are two sons, Jack, of Niles,and William, of South Bend; four grandchildren; two brothers, William Chapman, of London, Ontario, Canada, and Earl, of Vancouver, Canada, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Leaker, of London, Ontario.

Mrs. Cody was born on Oct. 14, 1884, in London, Ontario, and moved to Kalamazoo from Niles about one year ago.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m Saturday by the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, Presbyterian pastor. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

 

 

Easton, Sandra Kay

Sandra Kay Easton was born prematurely Saturday at Pawating Hospital and died at 10 a.m. Monday at the hospital.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Easton, 2702 Beebe road.

Funeral services were held today at 4 p.m. and burial was in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Eby, George H.

George H. Eby

George H. Eby, rural route one, Augusta, Mich., formerly of Niles, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo. He resided in Niles from 1935 to 1937.

Surviving are his wife, Florence E. Eby; three sons, Marvin J., Orange, Calif., George C., of Augusta, and T/Sgt. Melvin L. Eby, of Washington, D.C.; and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Kelly, Elkhart, Ind., and eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Eby was born on July 22, 1889, in Loch, Ind., and was a salesman.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Fisher, John B.

John B. Fisher, 614 Chicago road, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home. He had been ill for about three months.

Surviving are his children, Roy, of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Ivar Hennings, of South Bend, Clarence F., of Niles, Mrs. V. William Leusch, of South Bend, and Raymond L.  Fisher, of South Bend; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. William Weaver, of Niles.

Fisher was born on Feb. 22, 1868, in Bertrand Township and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He was a carpenter by trade.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, where services will be held at 3 p.m Saturday with the Rev. C.M. Wetzel, assistant Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Gee, Neva Wade

Mrs. Neva Wade Gee, rural route two, Leet road, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday at Pawating Hospital, after a 24-hour illness.

Surviving are her husband, William F. Gee; two sons, William A., of Niles, and Robert S., of Wingo, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. Vern Hammond, of New Carlisle, Ind., Mrs. Benjamin Carroll, of Toledo, O., Mrs. William Mack, of Ora, Ind., and Mrs. Nathan Elder, of North Miami Beach, Fl.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Frances West, of Lorraine, O.

Mrs. Gee was born on June 19, 1891, in Lorraine County, O., and came here from South Bend 14 years ago.
