John H. Webber, 120 East Calvert street, South Bend, died in his home at 4:20 p.m Wednesday. He had been ill for 28 months.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; five children, Mrs. William Phillips, of Cincinnati, O., Mrs. Clarence Solf, of Forest Park, Ill., Mrs. Clayton Boht, of Niles, Mrs. Walter Ravish, of Buchanan, and Charles Webber, of Buchanan; two step-children, Mrs. Robert Kane, of Niles, and Francis Holloway, Niles; two sisters, Mrs. Warren Burrows and Mrs. Emma Bennett, both of Niles, and one brother, Luther Webber, of Niles.

Webber was born on July 13, 1888, in Niles, and had lived in South Bend for the past 17 years. He was a painter and decorator by trade.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. James H. Ellerbrook, of the Indiana Avenue Christian Church of South Bend. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

 



Dowd, Pearl Herman

Pearl Herman Dowd, 3004 South Eleventh street road, died early this morning in his home.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Alvira; a step-son, George Edward Kinser, Benton Harbor; one son, Roy Dowd, South Bend, and one daughter, Mrs. Robert Peet, Edwardsburg.

Services for Pearl Herman Dowd, 3004 South Eleventh Street road, who died early Tuesday morning in his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pifer Funeral Home.

Dowd, who was born on Jan. 13, 1886, in Berrien County, was retired from the New York Central Railroad Company.

Friends may call at the funeral home.  The Rev. Orlen L. Njus, pastor of Bertrand Bible Church, will officiate at the rites, and burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Miss Gertrude Evick, age unknown, of Niles, died Monday afternoon in Kalamazoo.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Kiger Funeral Home with the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Weaver Fehmling, 91, former Niles resident, died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marvin Loudenslager, in Elkhart, Ind. Mrs. Fehmling was born in December, 1861, in Germany and is survived by her daughter, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the White Funeral Home at Elkhart. Burial  and graveside rites will be at Silverbrook Cemetery here.

 

Kaiser, Frank G.

Frank G. Kaiser, 55, of rural route threee, Niles, was dead on admittance to Pawating Hospital following an attack in the downtown district Thursday afternoon.

Kaiser was born June 3, 1897, in South Bend. He was a New York Central yard conductor for 33 years and had spent the last five years farming. He lived in the South Bend-Niles area all his life.

Surviving, along with his widow, Emma, are: four daughters, Mrs. Edna Reid, Mrs. Alice Rinehart, Mrs. Cora Wolford and Mrs. Martha Miller, all of Niles; one step-son, Alfred Chamberlain, rural route three, Niles, and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Kiger Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert Meussling, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, officating.[sic] Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

CORRECTION

Four survivors of Frank G. Kaiser, Niles, who died Thursday afternoon were incorrectly identified as his daughters in the obituary in Friday's Daily Star. The women, Mrs. Edna Reid, Mrs. Alice Rinehart, Mrs. Cora Wolford and Mrs. Martha Miller, all of Niles, are sisters of the dead man.

 

Kimmick, George

George Kimmick, 67, formerly of Niles and brother of Florence and [illegible] Kimmick of Niles, died Monday at Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was born in Niles on May 16, 1865.

Also surviving is another sister, Mrs. L.D. Robbins, Boise, Ida.

Funeral services will be held at the Kiger Funeral Home Wednesday at 4 p.m. with  the Rev. Herbert Meussling, pastor of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

 

Rieske, Alma Ann

Miss Alma Ann Rieske, 1405 North Fifth Street, died at 11 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend. She had been in poor health for eight years.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Martha Ausmus, Niles. Miss Rieske, a surgical nurse, was born on March 19, 1905, in Germany, and came here from California five years ago.

Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, Presbyterian pastor. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
