Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth A. Newbanks, 84, of 1501 N. 12th St., who died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, in the Kiger Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Nesseth, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Berrien Springs, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. She had been ill five weeks.

Mrs. Newbanks was born Feb. 14, 1878, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She came to Niles from Berrien Springs six years ago. Her husband, Harry, died Feb. 27, 1949.

Survivors include a son, Charles, Niles; and a daughter, Mrs. Osman Ziegler, Berrien Springs; a sister, Mrs. Fred Flambo, Rock Island, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Friends are being received at the funeral home.

Agnes L. Northrop
May 15, 1888-Aug. 27, 1970

NILES--Mrs. Agnes L. Northrop, 82, of 1814 Kilarney[sic] Ln., died at 2:15 a.m. today at Berrien General Hospital. She had been in ill health for several years.

Born May 15, 1888 at Torrington, Conn., Mrs. Northrop had lived at Niles since she came here seven years ago from Stratford, Conn. Her husband, Archie, died in 1950. She was a member of the Niles Golden Age Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David (Jean) Canavan of Niles, a brother, Harry Pidge of Sparks, Md., and a grandson.

Graveside rites will be conducted at Silverbrook Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Robert Trenery, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Friday.

Donna Rebecca Phillips

Donna Rebecca Phillips, 51, of 514 Walnut Ct., Kalamazoo, formerly of Niles, died Friday in her home.

Employed by the Rige View Nursing Home, Kalamazoo, Miss Phillips was born June 13, 1919, in Niles. She had lived in Niles most of her life, moving to Kalamazoo 18 months ago.

Miss Phillips was a member of the Union Protestant Church of Dailey.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Jones of Niles; Mrs. G. P. (Evelyn) Bailey of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Clarence (Eleanor) Haslanger of Niles.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pifer Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Schobert of the Clear Lake Baptist Church of Ray, Ind., officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 today at the funeral home.

Charles George Radewald

CHARLES G. RADEWALD

Died Saturday Night--Funeral to Be Held Wednesday Afternoon.

Charles George Radewald died at his home in this city Saturday night at 10:45 o'clock of dilatation of the heart.  Mr. Radewald was born in this city 39 years ago last August. For several years he has conducted a successful saloon business on north Front street, and was familiarly known as "Pigeon."  His demise was sudden, and came as a shock to wife, brothers and sisters. Deceased was a member of the German Workingmen's association, carrying an insurance policy of $500.

Chas. Radewald was never selfish, but ever kind-hearted, without a known enemy in the world.  His home surroundings were pleasant, where only kind words were spoken.  It was but a week ago yesterday that Mr. Radewald mourned at his mother's funeral. The wife, three brothers and five sisters are left to mourn his loss. One sister, Mrs. Jas. Cutting, resides at South Bend and Mrs. Tina Schultz, a sister, is a resident of Sectora, Ill.

The funeral will occur from the home, 508 Cass street, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock,, and is to be private. Rev. F. Rahn will officiate. The body will lie in state from Tuesday noon until Wednesday noon. Interment will be at Silver Brook cemetery.

David Ramsey
Jan. 30, 1913-Aug. 17, 1970

NILES--David Ramsey, 57, of 316 Roberts St., died at 5:30 a.m. today in his home, after an extended illness.

A retired construction worker, Mr. Ramsey was born Jan. 30, 1913, in Whitney County, Ind., and had lived here for 28 years coming from South Bend. On June 12, 1944 in St. Joseph, he married the former Emma Shriner, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, LaFreem Keith of South Bend; two half-brothers, Russel Kissinger of Osceola, Ind. and Keith Kissinger of Columbia City, Ind.; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Bolles of Chicago and Mrs. Ethel Mead, Mrs. Helen Fulford and Mrs. Beatrice Yantz, all of Columbia city, Ind. and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today in the Pifer Funeral Home, with burial in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Marjorie Rodebush

Funeral services for Marjorie F. Rodebush, 68, of 2528 Gilbert Ave., Niles, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of Christ, Christian by the Rev. Russell W. Ross.

Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Rodebush died at 1:50 p.m Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind., following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Niles and had lived in this area all her life.  She was an employee of Johnie's Auto Body Shop, a member of First Church of Christ, Christian, Secretary of Cass County Council on Aging Board, secretary of Friends of Cass County Parks, and a member of Friends of Cass County Library.

On Nov. 8, 1947, in Niles, she married Johnie A. Rodebush, who survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Vicky Rodebush and Diane Rodebush, both of Niles; a son Robert Rodebush of Cincinnati; a sister, Barbara Ortmann of Niles; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Halbritter Funeral Home.
