Joyce Ann Beadle, 89, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019,

She was born on May 29, 1930, in Niles, to the late Raymond and Hazel Reist in Niles.

Joyce is survived by her sons, David Jr., Robert, Bruce, Richard, Jerry, Jimmie Beadle; daughters, Juanita Quick, Lori Freimuth; brother, Richard Reist; sister, Ardith McAdams; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Beadle Sr.; daughter, Brenda Nance; numerous brothers and sisters.

Funeral service for Joyce will be at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

James Robert Lampson

James Robert Lampson, 56, passed away in Niles Township on Aug. 31, 2018. He was born Oct. 6, 1961, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to Robert Lampson and Rose (Vanderklock) Lampson. He attended Grand Haven High School.

Upon completion of high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he was honorably discharged after eight full years of service. After completion of his service to his country, he decided to serve his country again and became a mail processing clerk serving the Niles community until his death.

James enjoyed his time in the service and had an admiration for sports, especially the Michigan Wolverines.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Robert Lampson and Rose Lampson (Vanderklock), and his older sister Sandra Mack. He is survived by his beloved daughter Courtney Newcomer and son-in-law Michael Newcomer, and his sisters, Lisa, Carol and Sue.

Malone, Lucille V. (Blodgett)

Lucille V. Malone, 97, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, following extended health problems.

Lucille was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Green Springs, Ohio, to Chancy and Vida Ann (Crumb) Blodgett. In 1941, she moved to Niles to marry the love of her life, Stayton Leo Malone, who preceded her in death in 1995 after celebrating 54 years of marriage.

They had three sons, Patrick D. (Judi) Malone of Niles, Michael D. (Diana) Malone of Edwardsburg and Daniel R. (Joan) Malone of Big Rapids, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Lucille was a congenial host, she had a great sense of humor and a great love for her family. She worked at Simplicity Pattern Company for many years where she forged many new friendships, conjured up potions and creased a bunch of paper. She loved to watch birds, fish for fish, hunt for morel mushrooms, eat tacos (not the “uncooked” soft shell ones though!) and she baked an awesome strawberry rhubarb pie. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends who will always remember her for her love of life and her strength of will to do it “her way.”

In accordance with Lucille’s wishes she will be cremated and private family services may be held at a later date. Her final resting place will be at Silver Brook Cemetery in Niles. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements. Memorial donations in memory of Lucille be made to Caring Circle, Lakeland Health Affiliate, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Dumond, William R. Sr.

William R. Dumond Sr, 91, of Niles, passed away at Riveridge Manor in Niles, on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.

William was born on Nov. 30, 1927, in Bedford, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Nora (Chastain) Dumond.

On June 25, 1949, he married the former Emma E. Hardwick, and to that union, two children were born. William and Emma made their home in Niles, where he worked and retired from Niles Steel Tank. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and watching the Nascar races.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma; daughter, Carolyn Sue Wolkins and a brother, Albert Dumond.

William is survived by his son, William (Karen) Dumond Jr., of Titusville, Florida; son in law, Jack Wolkins, of Galien, Michigan; five grandchildren, Debbie (Mike Hershberger) Froehlich, Chris Wolkins, Brian Wolkins, Jeff (Michell) Dumond, and Tammy (Tony) Gabriel; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren; siblings, Lloyd Drumond, Lora Mae (Fred) Davis and June Galaske.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, with a time of visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

Kenneth Michaels departed to his eternal home on Sunday, July 28th, 2019 at the age of 85.

Ken was born on March 30th, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Anthony Kenneth Michaels and Eleanor Mae Walsh. He owned a cold-storage warehouse in Chicago for many years, and then worked for The Field Museum as a Controller. Before retiring, he also worked for Tinderbox stores. He had served as a deacon and greeter at Hope Community Church in Niles, Michigan.

On August 15th, 1987 he married Margaret, the love of his life. Ken enjoyed adding to his antique collection of pocket watches, radios, pipes, and Boy Scout memorabilia. He loved classical music, watching Chicago sports teams, and spoiling his dogs. One of his favorite past times was sitting in the backyard, surrounded by nature – his “Heaven on Earth”.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margaret, his children Renae (Mark) Frigo of Glen Ellyn, IL, Amanda (Ken) Hirsch of Bremen, IN, Jake (Jennifer) Wozniak of Niles, MI, and his seven grandchildren: Luke and Maggie Frigo, Cairenn, Bronson and Ayla Hirsch, and Samantha and Molly Wozniak.

Visitation for Ken will be from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday, August 1st at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles, MI. The service will be at 11 AM on Friday, August 2nd at Hope Community Church, 2390 Lake Street, Niles, MI. Contributions in memory of Ken can be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Hope Community Church.

William Maxey “Bill” Rucker, 74, formerly of Niles, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, in his home.

Bill was born in Munfordville, Kentucky to the late Johnny Clifton Rucker and Lucille Russell Warder. He was a roofing contractor and the city code enforcement officer for Munfordville.

Bill was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Munfordville Church of God, the Munfordville Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chaplain, the Hart County Rescue Squad and the KY Federation of Fire Chaplains.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Tyree Rucker; five brothers, Pete, Johnny, Chester, Paul David and Bobby Rucker; and two sisters, Marietta Waldeck and Gayle Frazier.

Bill is survived by three daughters, Paula Gayle Rucker, of Munfordville, Jennifer Lynn Rucker and Kimberly Jean Tisdale, both of Niles; two sons, William Bryan Rucker and Jason Matthew Rucker, both of Niles; one brother, Roy “George” Rucker, of Munfordville; two sisters, Virginia Grady, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dorothy Crain, of Horse Cave, Kentucky. Forty grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019, Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Niles. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m.  on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Silverbrook
Cemetery.

The family request that memorial contributions be given to Gideon Bibles.

Irene was born on November 25, 1941 and passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Irene was a resident of Niles, Michigan at the time of passing.

Irene was married to Richard.

The funeral service for Irene Messenger will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Wing of the Church officiating. Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.
