Lloyd B. Barnes, 92, of Niles, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 27, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 11, 1925, in Niles, to the late Basil L. and Hazel (Bolton) Barnes.
After graduating high school, Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country proudly for several years. On Sept. 7, 1946, Lloyd married Margaret Louise Orrick at a ceremony in Niles. Louise preceded him in death in 2011, nearly 65 years after the couple wed.
Lloyd worked for Conrail and as a carpenter with Local 413 in South Bend, Indiana, for many years. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 26.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother and four sisters.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Gale Barnes — Deitrich of Niles; Steven Barnes of Niles; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial was held at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles. Full Military Honors were rendered by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion Post 51.
