A. Louise Fletcher, 84, of Niles, died at 12:05 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles following a brief illness.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1929, in Niles to Frederick and Hulda (Reum) Roebeck. She was graduated from Niles High School, and has lived here all of her life.

Louise was a member of the Michiana Christian Embassy in Niles. She enjoyed flower gardening and birdwatching, with goldfinches and cardinals among her favorite. She also enjoyed reading history and biographies, and listening to country music, especially Hank Williams and Loretta Lynn. Her greatest joy was her family, and caring for her grandchildren.

On Jan. 22, 1954, in Niles she married Charles Fletcher with whom she celebrated the 36th anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on Nov. 23, 1990. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Roebeck and Merrill Roebeck.

Surviving family includes her children, Rhonda Fletcher of Niles, Wayne (Carrie) Fletcher of Macon, Georgia, Anita (Joel) Rogers of Niles, and Tina (Terry) Holloway of Niles; grandchildren Kyle (Kristen) Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher, Lauren Girvin, Rachel Girvin, Maeli Rogers, Ashley Holloway, and Michael Holloway, and Louise’s sister, Shirley (& Henry) Kujawa and brother, Harry Roebeck, both of Niles; a sister-in-law, Trudy (Mrs. Merrill) Roebeck; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Louise Fletcher will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Michiana Christian Embassy in Niles with Pastor Jeff Whittaker of the church officiating. Committal will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles and on Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Contributions in memory of Louise may be made to Michiana Christian Embassy.
