Mrs. Ellen M. Kerr, 71, of 22 N. 13th St., Niles at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in Pawating Hospital, after she had been a patient there for three weeks and in ill health for the past several years.
Born Dec. 9, 1896, in Niles, Mrs. Kerr was a lifetime resident of this area. Her husband, John A. Kerr was a hardware merchant of Kerr's Hardware prior to his death in 1946.
During World War II, she served in the WACS.
Having been one of leading women golfers of Niles, Mrs. Kerr was a member of the Orchard Hills Country Club. She was very active in the women's club work in Niles and was a member of the Easter Star, 322, the Niles Musical Club and the Ladies Reading Club.
Her survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Harvey of Key Largo, Fla.; Mrs. Irene McDonald, and Mrs. Lilyan Wilson, both of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Pifer Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Schloop, pastor of the Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
