SPANISH WAR VET DIES WEDNESDAY

Henry J. Baker, 66, a Spanish War veteran, died Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the family home at 1160 Lambert street where he had been ill for two months.

A retired government employe, Baker was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Born in Bremen, Ind., Oct. 22, 1878, he came to Niles from New Buffalo in 1930.

Surviving are the Widow, Mina; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Kienzie, Niles; one grandchild; a brother, Andrew Baker, Kenosha, Wis., and three sisters, Mrs. Vern Goodrich, Jackson, Mrs. Mary Smith, Coldwater, and Mrs. Clarence Brooks, Kenosha, Wis.

Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.

BAKER RITES

Henry J. Baker, 66, of 1160 Lambert street, was buried this afternoon in Silverbrook cemetery following services in the Pifer funeral home with the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster officiating. Baker died Wednesday morning in his home.  Pallbearers were Arthur Drewer, Joseph Merrick and William Burgoyne, of the Spanish American War Veterans,and Theodore Aberman, George Dayhuff and Floyd Ausmus of the VFW.
