Charles W. Garrett, 76, of 330 North Fourth street, and life member of the St. Joseph Valley No. 4 Masonic Lodge here, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday in Pawating Hospital following an illness of one year.
Garrett was born Jan. 12, 1877, in Cass County and moved here 30 years ago where he operated a service station at the corner of Second and Sycamore streets for 22 years. His wife, Alma, died June 11, 1950. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Lyle John, Niles; a son, Carl W. Garrett, Hermosa Beach, Calif., and a brother, Ralph Garrett, Sturgis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kiger Funeral Home with the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home.
