Mrs. Ida J. Matthews, 79, of 1616 Cherry St., died at 8:45 p.m., Tuesday in Quick's Convalescent Home, where she had been a patient two years.
Mrs. Matthews was born Aug. 23, 188, in Warren County, Tenn. She came here in 1928. Her husband, D.C. Matthews, died in 1943.
Survivors include seven sons, J. Earl, Buford, Homer, Laurence, and Glen, all of Niles, and Fred, Sawyer, and Kenneth D., of Huschuchua City, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Prater, and Mrs. George Crumb, both of Niles; three brothers, William Bradshaw, Cleveland, Tenn., Albert Bradshaw, Manchester, Tenn., and John Bradshaw, Morrison, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Waldan Bryant, Manchester; 37 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was a charter member of the Mothers of World War II, unit 4, of Niles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in the Pifer Funeral Home, with Ted N. Starke, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
