Mrs. J.C. Cuthbert dies at farm home
Passes away at Bend of River Residence Early Thursday evening.
Mrs. Jemima Dressler Cuthbert, wife of John C. Cuthbert, died last evening at 7:40 in the bend of the river neighborhood. Mrs. Cuthbert had been in ill health for several weeks. On last Monday morning she suffered a stroke of paralysis and never fully regained consciousness.Mrs. Cuthbert was born on Portage Prairie in Bertrand township on May 18, 1864, a daughter of Casper Gelnett and Sarah Ellen Shetterly Dressler and grew to young womanhood there. She was married to Mr. Cuthbert in Buchanan in 1889. for the first few years following their marriage they resided in Chicago. Upon returning in Michigan they located on a farm at Glendora and resided there until 1910 when they moved to the farm where her death occurred.
Mrs. Cuthbert is survived by her husband, one daughter, Miss Ruby, who is the teacher of the St. Joseph Valley School North of Niles and by the following, sisters and brothers, Mrs. Catherine Boone, Buchanan, George Dressler of Bakertown, Levi J. Dressler of Perth, N.D, and Mrs. Mary Rough of Niles.
Mrs. Cuthbert was an active member of the Bend of the River grange.The funeral services will be held on Saturday, afternoon at 2:30 in the Troost and Augustine chapel. The Rev. g. W. Simon, pastor of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be made in Silverbook Cemetery.
