Bonnie “Helen” P. Hover Morley, 104, of South 13th Street, Niles, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center following an illness.
She was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Logansport, Ind., to William Gail and Vina Pearl (Peavy) Foster. Helen moved to the Niles area at age 13. On Oct. 17, 1929, she married Frank E. Hover, Jr.; he preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1954. She then married Ernest R. Morley in 1956; he preceded her in death on May 17, 2001.
Helen worked for Kawneer Corp. During World War II. She was the Niles Township treasurer from 1954 to 1957, and she was the secretary for Morley Real Estate from 1957 to 1983. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Lucky Strike League since the 1940s. Helen was the first honorary member of the Niles Township Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Jerry L. (Connie) Hover, and daughter, Bonnie Behm, both of Niles; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Hover, who died May 12, 1950; and a daughter, Shirley Neib, who died Feb. 26, 2003.
Services for Helen Morley wil be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Halbritter Funeral Home in with the Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive friends and relatives from noon until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helen may be made to Hospice at Home.
