Lemuel H. Mead, 1328 Ferry street, died at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Berrien county hospital at Berrien Center.  Death was attributed to an arterial heart disease by Corner[sic] Louis Kerlikowski.

Mead had been hospitalized since March 14, when he was struck by an automobile and suffered a fractured rib and minor cuts.

Surviving are a son, Edgar Mead, of Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Bailey, of Niles; three step-cildren, Otto Anderson and Mrs. Russell Cramer of Niles, and Mrs. Charles Imus, of Mishawaka, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; five great-granchildren[sic]; two brothers, Samuel Mead, of Goodlin, Ind., Allen Mead, of Morocco, Ind. and a sister, Mrs. Anna Butler, of Goodlin.

Mead was born on Jyly 29, 1861, in Ottawa, Ill., and had lived in Niles for 30 years.  He was retired from The Kawneer Company.

Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Percy D. Jones, rector of Trinity Episcopal church. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
