Zimri R. Cooper, Former Resident of Niles, is Dead
Zimri L. Cooper, who was graduated from Niles high school with the late Congressman L.E. Hamilton in 1875, died Saturday afternoon in Epworth hospital, South Bend. Complications following a major operation caused his death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Rutherford funeral home. The Rev. Guy W. Simon of the first[sic] Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was born in Pokagon, Nov. 4, 1854. After his graduation from Niles high school he attended the University of Michigan and was graduated from the law school in 1878.
He served as attorney for the Missouri-Pacific railroad for several years. Later he came to Niles and entered the real estate, bond and insurance business.
He leaves two sons, Charles, Niles, Dr. H.L. Cooper, South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Schick, Niles, and Mrs. Russell Brown, Chicago; also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1927.
Prior to entering the hospital Mr. Cooper made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schick, 553 Grant street.

SERVE AS PALLBEARERS
Frank Skopec, Frank Martin, Carl Frazee, Claude Huff, Dr. J.G. Brodie and Melton Steers served as pallbearers at 2 o'clock this afternoon for the funeral services of Zimri L. Cooper, 83. Rites were conducted by the Rev. Guy W. Simon in the Rutherford funeral home. Burial was in Silverbrook Cemetery. A lifelong resident of Niles, Mr. Cooper died Saturday afternoon in Epworth hospital, South Bend.
