Archie G. Barkman, 54, of 421 S. Ninth St., Niles, was pronounced dead upon arrival at 4:53 a.m. Tuesday at Pawating Hospital.
An employee of the Prescription Shoppe, he was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born Jan. 26, 1926 in Toledo and had lived here since 1929.
He was married on Nov. 15, 1947 in Niles to Lois L. Wood, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Stephen of South Bend, Archie, Jr. of Kalamazoo and Bryan, at home; a daughter, Beth Ann, at home; three brothers, John of Niles, Frank of Livonia and James of Colon; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. The Rev. Michael Brallier of the First Church of God, Cassopolis, will officiate.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Church of God.
