Charles L. Curtis [. . who lived at South Fifth Street], sexton at Trinity Episcopal Church here, died at 7:47 [illegible] following an illness of six weeks.

Mr. Curtis, a retired New York Central Railroad employe, was born March 11, 1886, in LaGrange Township, Cass County, and had lived his entire life in and around this community. He was a member of Trinity Church, St. Joseph Valley Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Madonna White Shrine and Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are: his wife, Edythe, three sons, Evan W. Curtis, of Dowagiac, Charles M. Curtis, of Cassopolis, and Edwin E. Curtis, of Kalamazoo; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Rose, of New Brunswick, N.Y., and Mrs. Shirley LeStrange, of Dowagiac; 11 grandchildren; two step-sons, Nelson and Paul King, both of Battle Creek, and a sister, Mrs. Kelsey Bainton, of Niles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Episcopal Church with the rector, the Rev.John G. Carlton, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside. Friends may call at the Pifer Funeral Home here.
