David J. Lowe Dies at Age 66

 

David J. Lowe, 66, proprietor of Lowe Motor Sales, died Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in a South Bend hospital. He had been ill one week.

Mr. Lowe, who lived at 1104 South 11th Street, had been connected with the automotive business in Niles for the past 30 years following his arrival in the city from South Bend. He was born February 5, 1891, in Oakdale, Mass.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Valley Free and Accepted Masons, the First Presbyterian Church, the South  Bend and Niles Shrine Clubs, the Niles Elks, and the Saladin Temple.

Surviving are his wife, Ione: a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Weist, Niles; two brothers, Arthur Lowe, and Leland Lowe, both of Oakdale; three sisters, Mrs. George Converse, Keene, N.H.; Mrs. George Rand, Portsmouth, N.H.; and Mrs. Turner Bergstrom, Boston; and one granddaughter.

The body was taken to the Pifer Funeral Home where friends may call.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John MacLachlan officiating.  Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
