Lisa Marie Kurty, 47, of Niles, passed away suddenly, but of natural causes, Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
She was born April 26, 1964, in Niles to Willard F. and Charlotte (McKay) Kurty.
Lisa graduated from Niles High School, where she played volleyball and softball.
Lisa also loved the outdoors including fishing, target shooting and skiing and had a love in her heart for stray animals. Lisa worked as a barber-beautician in Niles for more than 15 years until venturing out with a colleague, Angie Hoyt, to run Hoyt’s Haircuts for Men in Buchanan.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willard F. Kurty.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Charlotte Kurty; brothers, Lee (Carol) Kurty and Willard I. Kurty; and a sister, Karla (John) Schadler, all of Niles. She also leaves cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Lisa also leaves a host of friends. She had a love, happiness and compassion for everyone she crossed paths with.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
A private service will be held by her family. An interment will also be held privately at Silverbrook Cemetery.
