NILES--Harry C. Wood, 81, of 1950 S. 13th St., died at 10;10 p.m. Monday in Pawating Hospital following a brief illness.
He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army, and was retired from Studebaker Corp. He was born Feb. 23, 1894, in Chicago, he married the former Bessie E. Fein, who survives.
Mr. Wood also is survived by three sons, Harry E. of Bridgeview, Ill., Edward C. of Fox Lake, Ill., and Floyd E. of Pokagon; two daughters, Mrs. Archie (Lois) Barkman of Niles and Mrs. Walter (Marion) Barchet of Watervliet, 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Younts, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God memorial fund.
