George J. Wedel, 69, 1515 N. 11th St., died at 12:10 p.m. Friday at Pawating Hospital after an extended illness.
He was retired from N.Y. Central Railroad and from Niles Steel Tank, the latter in 1979. Wedel also was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Born March 13, 1915 in Niles, he was a lifetime area resident.
Surviving are three brothers, Norman P., Donald and Richard Wedel. all of Niles; and four sisters, Mrs. Bernice Wolford, Mrs. Ellenora Stephenson, Mrs. Dorothy Smith and Miss Marian Wedel, all of Niles.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Halbritter Funeral Home. Rev. Frederick West of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
