Edith Schneck, 97

Edith Leona Schneck, 97, of Ironwood Drive in Niles, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at Silverbrook Manor in Niles following an extended illness.
Mrs. Schneck was born July 2, 1913 in Mendon, Mich. to Oscar M. and Myrtie B. (Coonfare) Reid. She lived most of her life in this area.
Edith was a member of the Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed fishing, camping and trapping with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling.
In 1935 she first married Darrell W. Johnson in St. Joseph County. He preceded her in death in June 1972.
She was married on Aug. 6, 1960 in Niles to Carl F. Schneck, who preceded her in death in September 2002.
Mrs. Scheck is survived by her sons, Dale (Nadean) Johnson of Traverse City, Mich. and Darrell (Sheryl) Johnson of Niles; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her daughters, June Morris and Bonnie Johnson, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Edith Leona Schneck will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Darrel le Roux of Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating.
Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
