Passed Quietly Away at His Home on Oak Street Last Night.
E.B. Ives died at 10 o'clock last night at his home on Oak street after an illness of less than a week, aged 73 years. His death comes as a surprise to his friends, who did not suppose him to have been in a serious condition.
The deceased was born in Jefferson, Ohio, in September, 1832, and come to Niles from Hillsdale, Mich., in 1865, having served a short time in the army during the civil war. Mr. Ives had been the leading photographer of Niles and Berrien county for 40 years and was one of the best known photographers in the state. He had attended national and international conventions of photographers, and had received several prizes for work exhibited there. He was also vice-president of one of the national associations. The deceased is survived by a wife and four children who are Allen Ives of Dowagiac, Mrs. Fred Schmidt, and Mrs. Leonide Keating, of this city, and Lowell Ives of Chicago.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, Rev. C.E. Marvin officiating. Burial at Silver Brook cemetery.

His death come as a surprise to his friends, who did not suppose him to have been in a serious condition. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence. Rev. C.E. Marvin will officiate. Interment will be made in the Silver Brook cemetery.

E.B. Ives, who for nearly forty years has been a photographer in Niles, died last Sunday evening. Mr. Ives was the oldest and one of the best photographers in Berrien County.
