Ruth Anne Marble, 82, of Hunting Ridge Trail, Granger, Ind., died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Hospice House, South Bend, Ind.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Jasonville, Ind., to John Albert Burris and Ina Ethyl Reed, and had lived in Granger since 1989, coming from Niles, Mich.
Mrs. Marble retired in 1981 after 20 years of service at the Clark Equipment Company. She was also employed for 18 years as a court reporter for the New York Central Railroad.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles, the Railroad Retirees Club and the Phi Ki Epsilon Sorority in Niles.
On Oct. 6, 1940, in Niles, she married Raymond L. Marble, who survives. She is also survived by her children, DeVonne G. Turner of Granger and Donavon Ray (Janet) Marble of Los Altos, Calif.; grandsons, Jeffrey A. (Wendy) Turner, D.D.S., Darren and Travis Marble; great-grandsons, Kyle and Matthew Turner; sisters, Wanda "Bonnie" Stainbrook of South Bend, Betty Rose of Greenville, S.C., and Virginia Zimmerman of Jasonville; brothers, John R. Burris of Jasonville and William S. Burris of Fort Branch, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geneva Hayden and Mary Fries.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Reverend Emmett H. Kadwell Jr. of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
