Obituary of Carolyn Mae Hatcher

Carolyn Mae Hatcher, 76, of South Bend, passed from her earthly home to eternal glory on Monday, February 7, 2022, at her home. She was born on November 11, 1945, in Niles, Michigan to the late Harold and Opal (Moore) Hatcher Sr. Carolyn graduated from Niles High School in 1964, and went on to be a true woman of God, touching the lives of many. Carolyn considered it her highest honor to be called a child of the Most High God. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, body, and mind. Many have said, *if not for her prayers, where would I be?* She was a prayer warrior, a woman of faith, a beloved mother, sister, and friend. She was a woman that loved her family and she enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She continually prayed over them and their lives. She was a sweet loving mother, grandmother, sister, confidant, and friend. There was so much to this Woman of God, and to know her was a blessing. She liked to draw and was extremely gifted. She was a Church Mother at Peace Temple COGIC, and before that, she was a praise and worship leader at Washington Temple COGIC. Carolyn was even the lead singer at one point. The two songs she sang the most were, *Jesus can work it out,*and*I can go to God in prayer.* She not only sang those songs but she lived by them.To Carolyn, it was all about God, family, and love for one another. No matter what was going on, she trusted in God and urged everyone she knew to do the same. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Opal (Moore) Hatcher Sr., her sister, Marvine Nicks, two great-grandchildren, Luella Lee Mae Boatright and Elijah James Boatright, and a special friend who she often referred to as a sister in Christ, Vivian Newborne. Carolyn is survived by her children, Eddie Boatright of South Bend; Camilla Boatright of South Bend; Carmen Boatright of Niles; Ena (RV) Boles of South Bend; Corey (Nichole) Boatright of Niles; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlene Wade of Niles; Opal Fay Hatcher of Niles; Geraldine Hatcher of Niles; Janet Sue White of Niles; Harold *Butch* Hatcher Jr. of Oakland, California; Debra Grady of Inkster; Donna (Joe) Coleman of Niles; Ramona (Arthur) Jones of Niles; Michael Hatcher of Mishawaka; Lisa Hatcher of South Bend; Tracey (Chris) Hatcher of Dowagiac; Tera Ellis of South Bend; Teria (Jamel) Ellis Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. A Home Going service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Mt Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St, Niles with Pastor Tracey Hatcher officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
