Albert, Robert Lee 1935-2021

Robert “Bob” Lee Albert, 86, of Niles, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 2, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Robert A. and Gertrude C. (Hartz) Albert Sr. On March 8, 1958, he married his sweetheart, Martha A. Palmer, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Niles. To that union, they were blessed with two children. Bob was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Michigan. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, and he loved singing praises to his Lord and Savior in church. He was a banker for over thirty-nine years and was the Senior Vice President of the Niles Old Kent Bank when he retired. Over the years he became good friends with many of his clients. He was kind to everyone he met. Bob was able to enjoy his retirement years doing what he loved most, which was spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Martha Albert of Niles, daughter, Christine (Jeffery) Putnam of Niles; son, Robert T. (Roni) Albert of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren, Alex (Rachel) Putnam, Alyssa (James) Becker, David Albert; one great-grandson, Jackson; sister, Marsha Wedel of Berrien Springs; brother, Doug Albert of Ludington, Michigan; along with a host of extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 7th, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 521 E. Main St., Niles. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
