Obituary of Diane Lee Backus
Diane Backus, 69, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, August 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 13, 1952 in Niles to the late LeRoy and Marjorie (Everman) Hydorn. On November 22, 1969 Diane wed Richard A. Backus, Sr. at a ceremony in Niles. A homemaker most of her life, Diane enjoyed crafting, spending time with her family and will also be remembered for always helping others. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Backus, Sr. and two sisters, Judith Ann Wall and Darlene Myers. Diane will be missed greatly by her children, Shelly (Jeff) Thompson and Richard Jr. (Becky) Backus, all of Niles; five grandchildren and a sister, Mary (Floyd) Ostrander of Niles. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and a special neighbor and friend, Rich Perez. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Silverbrook Cemetery at Noon.
