Phillip F. Molica

Phillip F. Molica, 91, of Hickory Street, Niles, died following a brief illness at 4:21 a.m. Monday, March 9th, in the Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.
Mr. Molica was born on June 20, 1917, in Hammond, IN, to Rosario and Nancy (Merlo) Molica. He graduated from Niles High School in 1936 and had lived in Niles most of his life. He retired after 35 years of service from Michigan Central and New York Central Railroads.
Phillips was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.
Mr. Molica was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ in Niles. He enjoyed hunting in the Upper Peninsula, reading, word and number puzzles, listening to music, and summering at his home at Diamond Lake.
On May 9, 1942, in Bryan, Ohio, he married the former Kathlyn Margaret "Kay" Kettlehut, who preceded him in death on October 19, 2003.
He is survived by his siblings, Anthony Molica, Henry Molica, Fanny Probst and Mary Curtis, all of Niles, Frankie Molica and Benny Molica of Jackson, MI, and Alfred Molica of Palm Coast, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Phillip was also preceded in death by sisters, Nicolette McElroy and Jennie Imus, and a brother, Robert Molica.
The funeral services for Phillip F. Molica will be held Thursday, March 12th, at 2 p.m. in Saint John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Kyle Gardner officiating.
Interment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles, with a Flag Presentation and "Taps" following the services at the graveside by the American Legion.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
