Funeral services for Theodore “Ted” Wienke, 83, of 14 N. 13th St., Niles, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles by the Rev. Dr. Ronald H. Wakeman of First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Wienke died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Silverbrook Manor in Niles, following an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Michigan City, Ind., and had lived in Niles since 1922, coming from Michigan City.

On Dec. 21, 1934, in Niles, he married the former Phena E. Kingston, who survives.

Mr. Wienke retired in 1975 as a conductor for the Penn Central Railroad.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Niles and the United Trainmen Union, He was a summer resident of Copper Harbor.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Phoebe A. Wienke, Ph. D., Columbus, Ohio; a son, Peter K. Wienke of Palatine, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Moe of South Bend, Ind. One brother, Warren Wienke, died Oct. 3, 1979.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation of the First Presbyterian Church or the Berrien County Cancer Service.
