Jack A. Harrington, 59, of Gettysburg Drive, Niles, Mich., died unexpectedly but of natural causes at 2 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in his home.
He was born to Beryl and Margaret (Tichenor) Harrington in Niles on April 1, 1940. He had lived most of his life in Niles, with the exception of the 23 years he was a resident of Buchanan, Mich.
Mr. Harrington was a former employee of National Store Fixtures in Niles, and had been employed for 23 years at Clark Equipment.
He was an auction enthusiast and searched for old telephones which he collected and restored. Mr. Harrington enjoyed playing euchre and was involved in tournaments.
On March 30, 1963, in Niles, he married the former Anna R. Rough, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Cathy L. Harrington of South Bend, Ind., and Vicky S. (Brian) Scherff of Belding, Mich.; his sisters, Doris (William) Blackmun and Ann (Robert) Prestine, both of Niles; several nieces and nephews; the parents of his wife, Pauline and Herbert Rough of Niles; and by a sister-in-law, Judy Pershing of South Bend.
Funeral services for Jack A. Harrington will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. Doctor Ronald H. Wakeman of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles officiating. Committal will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Harrington may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Foundation of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles.
