NILES—Murle E. Gorton, 73, 802 W. Main St., died at 4 .a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, after an extended illness.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Niles Elks Lodge, he was retired employe of the National Standard Co.
He was born May 5, 1902 in Hampshire, Ill. and had lived in Niles since 1927, coming from Cassopolis. On May 28, 1924 in Niles, he married the former Harriett M. Bullard, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Eugene and Stanley, both of Niles; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Muriel) Noe of Syracuse, Ind.; a brother, Harold of Lansing; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home with the Rev. John R. Wyngarden of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
