DEWITT MATTHEWS, FATHER OF 11, DIES
Dewitt C. Matthews, 63, father of 11 children, died in his home at 117 Parkway this morning at 6:45 after a heart illness of six weeks.
A native of Morrison, Tenn., where he was born June 4, 1879, Matthews came here from Morrison about 15 years ago. Surviving is his wife, the former Ida Bradshaw, to whom he was married June 26, 1902, in Manchester, Tenn.
The children include Earl, Buford, Homer, John, Fred and Glen Matthews, Mrs. Thomas Prater, Mrs. George Crumb and Mrs. Jess West, all of Niles; Pvt. Lawrence Matthews, Chanute field, Rantoul, Ill., and Pvt. Kenneth Matthews, Fort Warren, Wyo.
He also leaves two brothers and three sisters, Fred Matthews, Houston, Texas; Ernest Matthews, Fort Richard, Fla.; Mrs. M.E. Meyers, Morrison, Tenn.; Mrs. Nica Parks, Edna, Texas, and Mrs. Ross Zuber, Newport Richey, Fla.

Matthews Funeral at 3:30 Saturday
Funeral services for DeWitt C. Matthews, 117 Parkway, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3:30 in the Pifer funeral home by the Rev. J. Kenneth Hoffmaster, pastor of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Matthews, father of 11 children, died Thursday morning in his home. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
