Walter H. Rubin, 80, of 129 Huron St., died at 4:14 a.m. Monday in Pawating Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born May 14, 1900 in Coal City, Ill., and had lived in the Niles area since 1921, coming from Joliet, Ill.

He was retired after 48 years as an engineer with New York Central Railroad. Mr. Rubin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the St. Joseph Valley Lodge 4 F&AM.

On June 2, 1926, he married Rose C. Wieghart in Niles.

She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Jerry) Jackson of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) Plasterer of Livonia and four grandchildren, Nancy and Donnal  Plasterer, both of Livonia, Laura Jackson of Seattle, Wash., and John Plasterer, also of Livonia.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Halbritter Funeral Home with Rev. William J. Fuerstenau of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
