Memorial Services
Arrangements are being made for memorial services for Carl Cameron, 70, former Niles resident and Kawneer Co., official who died Monday night at Pharr, Tex. He had suffered a heart attack on Dec. 28. cremation will take place in Texas and the remains will be returned here.
Mr. Cameron, who was well known, in both Niles and Berrien Springs, had served as superintendent of the Kawneer plant in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, as sales manager of the Kawneer Store Front, manager of the Berkley Calif., plant and manager of the Niles plant.
He was born Sept. 22, 1888, in Jenesee, Idaho, and also had served as Niles city clerk. His father had been an implement dealer in Niles.
A veteran of World War I with two years service overseas in France on detached service with the 26th Engineers, Mr. Cameron came to work for Kawneer in January, 1924, and retired in June 1945. He was a member of the Kawneer 25-Year Club and of the Niles American Legion Post.
Following his discharge from military service, he was married to Ethel Higgins, of Kansas, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Colin Kennedy, of St. Joseph, and Mrs. Thelma Krause, of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Maude Cameron, of South Bend.

Memorial rites have been set for 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Pifer Funeral Home for Carl Cameron, 70, former Niles resident and Kawneer Co. official who died Feb 16, at Pharr, Tex. The Rev. John P. MacLachlan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, of which he had been a member, will officiate. He also had been a life member of the Niles Elks Lodge and a member of the Paw Paw Post of the Disabled American Veterans.
