Mary Marie (Poyer) Brown

Mary Marie Brown, 96, of Silverbrook Avenue, Niles, Michigan, died following an extended illness at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in Dowagiac Nursing Home, Dowagiac, Michigan.
Mrs. Brown was born May 10, 1909, in South Bend, Indiana, to Steven and Elizabeth (Kohler) Poyer. She had lived in Niles most of her life. She attended First Church of Christ in Niles. Mary enjoyed sewing, ironing and making "Raggedy Ann" dolls, and watching the fireworks while attending the LaPorte County Fair. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.
On October 10, 1931, in Walkerton, Indiana, she married Waldo Harvey Brown, who preceded her in death on January 22, 1968.
She is survived by their children, a son, Harvey (Evelyn) Brown of Branch, Michigan, a daughter, Norma Jean (Richard) Northrop of Lake Mary, Florida; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son, Stevens Brown; a grandson, Harvey Lacey Brown Jr.; a brother, Steve Poyer; and two sisters, Rose Tarpley and Ann Moretti.
Services for Mary M. Brown will be held in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, with Mr. Kevin Greenlee, minister of First Church of Christ, Niles, officiating. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
