MRS. K. SCHLEGEL, 78, TAKEN BY DEATH
Resident of Niles in 1890 Dies After Long Illness
Terminating a long illness, Mrs. Karoline Schlegel, 78, died at 9 o'clock Tuesday night in Pawating hospital. Mrs. Schlegel's condition became serious last Saturday.
Prior to entering the hospital, she had made her home with her nephew, Herman Bath, 210 Emmons street. She had lived with the family since 1913 following the death of her husband, Gottlob.
The body was taken to the Turner and Pifer funeral home where friends may call until Friday noon at which time it will be removed to St. John's church.
The Rev. Theo Eisen will conduct services in the church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery.
The daughter of the late Frederick and Barbara Hildebrande, Mrs. Schlegel was born in Stettin, Germany , Sept. 28, 1859. She came to the United States in 1890 and the same year was married to Gottlob Schlegel. The ceremony was performed in Niles by the late Rev. Frederick Rahn.
Mrs. Schlegel leaves two sisters in England, and a brother and sister in Germany, also a sister, Mrs. P.J. Fisher, Findlay, Ohio, and another sister, Mrs. Hannah Wolf, Covington, Okla. Several nieces and nephews live in Niles, Ohio and Oklahoma.
