Mrs. Lillian L. Helmick, 84, of 131 Ontario St., died at 2:15 p.m. Monday in Pawating Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Helmick was born Feb. 4, 1878, in Carmel, Ind. She came to Niles from Dowagiac 40 years ago. She was married to Myron Helmick on Aug. 30, 1927, in South Bend. He died in 1957.
Survivors include five sons, Claude, LeRoy and Albert Havener, all of Niles, Elmer Havener, Kalamazoo, and Ernest Havener, Pokagon, three daughters, Mrs. Terence Newton, Hart, Mrs. Hazel Goss, Mishawaka, and Mrs. Florence Carpenter, Niles, 33 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday in the Pifer Funeral Home. The Rev. Orlen L. Njus, pastor of the Bertrand Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
