Herbert F. Harlan, 69, of 401 North Fourth Street, owner of the Harlan Cab Company of Niles, died at 5 a.m. today in Pawating Hospital where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been ill since March.

Mr. Harlan, a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World, was born May 30, 1888, in Anderson, Ind., and came to Niles from Benton Harbor in 1938.

Surviving are: his wife Mary; a son Myron Harlan, of Dearborn, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. [illegible] Piper, of Niles, and Mrs. John De Koek Koek, of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Holmes, of Anderson, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Pifer Funeral Home here with the Rev. L. George Beacock, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
