Evelyn H. Hahn, 92, of Howard Street, Niles died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at West Woods of Niles in Niles following a brief illness.
She was born May 22, 1918 in Michigan City, Ind. to Herman F. Daun and Hazel Mary Hurst. She lived most of her life in Niles and graduated from Niles High School.
She was a clerk at the former Parmalee Store and the former The Mayfair Shop in Niles. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
On June 24, 1939 in Niles she married Paul W. Hahn, who died Aug. 3, 1993.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Cathleen) Hahn, of Niles; daughters, Carol (Fred) Laesch, of Niles and Merian Kessler, of Niles; grandchildren, Rich Laesch, Mary Sibley, Michael Laesch, Michele Manis and Lisa Dieringer; great-grandchildren, Jonah Sibley, Nicholas Sibley, Andrew Laesch, Maya Laesch, Tristan Manis, Braeden Manis, Keegan Manis, Elliot Dieringer and Rylan Dieringer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with the Rev. Carl W. Bassett of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Resident Activity Fund at West Woods.
